ABOUT ME
Hi everyone, my name is Mitch Goldsbrough and I have been a professional tattoo artist for over a decade.
As a kid growing up, my family were always playing with cars, and I would always love drawing them because I was too young to drive. This started my love of art (and cars) at a young age and I’ve never lost it.
I started tattooing at the age of 20 at Free Spirit Tattoo in the NSW coastal town of Batemans Bay. I did my research and found the most popular artist in my area, who’s work I admired. This was the owner of Free Spirit, Jason. Jason was, and still is, an artist who I look up to and whose versatility in styles blew my mind. He taught me to not limit myself in styles, and the importance of making every customer's tattoo the best it can possibly be, no matter the size or style. I have to say that the atmosphere he created in the studio was one of professionalism, but ultra friendly and welcoming at the same time. Sometimes I felt that people would come in for the banter, and the tattoos were just a happy extra, and I keep that tradition going to this day.
Over the years I have done every style, from freehand Japanese, custom script, colour and black and grey, traditional and tribal, to realism and portraiture. It is in the latter that I find my biggest strength. I enjoy realism, from portraits of loved ones, memorials, to celebrities, pets, anything! Basically if you want it to look like a photo, I want to do it, and we’ll have a good time doing it. I also LOVE automotive tattoos, and have been told on numerous occasions I get more excited for the tattoo than my clients!
I believe that a tattoo is an experience, the only thing that matters is that the customer walks out the door the happiest they can be, that’s what I get paid for. We are here to make people happy. I still enjoy mixing up my styles, and staying versatile.
I am privileged to say that my wife Oké and I are co-owners with Jason in Free Spirit Tattoo, which now has 2 locations. This has given me and Oké the opportunity to travel outside our town to new locations and spread the good times with you all.
